The owner of the design has the right to grant to another person the right to use the design in full or in part by a licensing agreement. According to the nature of the licence (exclusive licence or simple licence), the issuing of the right to use the design (licensor), as well as the receiving party (licensee) assume certain rights and obligations.

Process description

  1. Service requests
    An application shall be submitted (in a free form), which shall include:
    - a request for registration of a licence contract,
    - supporting document to be included in the register
    - a mandate, if necessary.

  2. Receipt of services
    Information regarding the licensing agreement for a registered design after the receipt of the relevant application, the document of the Contracting Party and the licensed right and the payment of the specified fee shall be entered in the Register and published in the official edition of the Patent Office, as well as the notification of the entry made in the Register shall be sent to the Parties.

The application can be submitted electronically, using E-address or e-mail address pasts@lrpv.gov.lv, if the application is signed with a secure electronic signature (if the application does not contain special categories of personal data), as well as in person.
