Experts of the Latvian Patent Office (LPO) have evaluated the trademarks registered in Latvia in the first quarter of 2025 and nominated the first candidates for the Trademark of the Year award in two categories – Trademark of the Year for Latvia and Trademark of the Year for the European Union. Some brands well-known by the Latvian public are among the nominees.
The Trademark of the Year award procedure is organized in two stages. First, once a quarter, experienced LPO experts select four trademarks in the nomination Trademark of the Year for Latvia and four trademarks - in the nomination Trademark of the Year for the European Union, which are further forwarded for the second evaluation stage. The winners in both nominations of the main award are determined among 16 trademarks registered at the LPO and 16 trademarks registered at the European Union Intellectual Property Office.

The new procedure for evaluating and nominating applicants for the Trademark of the Year award was introduced in 2024, while the award was created in 2013 to honour Latvian entrepreneurs that use the benefits of industrial property protection for increasing the long-term competitiveness and productivity of their companies, and to promote the development of Latvian businesses.
Since the beginning of 2025, the Trademark of the Year and the Visionary awards have constituted the Latvian Intellectual Property Awards.
The Trademark of the Year 2024 award in the nomination Trademark of the Year for Latvia was received on 8 April 2025 by the Rīgas Zeļļi basketball club for its registered figurative trademark. In the nomination Trademark of the Year for the European Union, the award was received by the Sudden Lights music group for the registered word trademark. The winner of the public vote became the figurative trademark of the Tiny Giant coffee brand.
