Barbara Freiberga stressed in her opening speech that each year, the world becomes more and more full of products and various services. To stand out and to be heard is to make a story that retains in memory and speaks the language that meets expectations. The trademark is such a story in a visual form that due to its aesthetics and content can both be understood locally and rise above language barriers to address its real audience. Looking at local and global businesses, we always recognize companies with strong and long-standing brands as carriers of good quality and relevant content. The trademark is both a direct and indirect way to strengthen position in users’ experiences and everyday life proving that design is a truly effective tool for growth. She also added that the work of the jury was not easy, but they managed to find the common denominator.

The competition “Trademark of the Year” was held for the first time in 2013.
