Having evaluated the trademarks registered in Latvia and the European Union in the second quarter this year, the expert commission of the Latvian Patent Office (LPO) has selected the next eight candidates for the main award of the Trademark of the Year 2024 competition. Until the beginning of the next year, in a series of quarterly publications, we will continue to introduce the enterprises - owners of creative, expressive and witty trademarks – that qualify for the competition's main award in various nominations.

Modern accounting services in my pocket
The word trademark MANAKABATA of Capitax PRO (LLC) has been selected as one of the candidates for the award in the Trademark of the Year - for Latvia nomination. The company was founded in 2022 with the idea of offering digital platforms and training for successful operation and growth of enterprises.
Capitax PRO offers accounting services, training, information provision and digital financial management tools to enterprises, self-employed persons and start-ups.
Daniils Vladimirovs, Partner and Head of Digital Products at Capitax PRO, says about the creation of the trademark MANAKABATA:
“We have created the MANAKABATA digital platform relatively recently. It is a good help for small and medium-sized companies to receive accounting services and review the necessary documents remotely. We have an artificial intelligence tool that answers tax questions and helps you find a solution in simple situations. Entrepreneurs can save their time and money by using this platform.
It took us a long time to find the most appropriate wording for our trademark, because we wanted it to reflect both training for accountants and consultants, and services for entrepreneurs. When one of my colleagues suggested MANAKABATA (my pocket), we immediately agreed that this is the right one! It indicates that the necessary knowledge is easily available on the phone in your pocket and that you can always follow the flow of money in your company's accounts, or, in everyday terms, the money in your pocket.”

Technical solutions for green living
The IC Design (LLC) was founded three years ago. It implements technical projects of any kind of complexity - production and adaptation of railway transport control and management systems, production and adaptation of control and management systems for border areas and guarded objects, as well as manufacturing of original technical products based on customer orders.
Aleksandrs Lukjanovs, Board Member of IC Design, says about the creation of the company’s trademark:
“Every year we expand the range of our activities. We began with the development of cable connections based on customer orders. After one year, we added metalworking and started to consider the possibility of producing our own standardized product under our own brand. We had different ideas, but finally decided to focus on promising green energy developments, namely electric cars and their charging.
This business intention is being implemented in three stages. The first step is the production of charging cables. The second one is the creation of charging stations, and the third one will be contactless charging systems. For now, electric car manufacturers do not yet offer contactless charging options, but such solutions are sure to become available.
When developing the product, our approach is to use component parts of local origin to be independent of external markets and contribute to the development of Latvia's economy. We are export-oriented, therefore registering our own expressive trademark is an important step for the further development of the company.”
