On Saturday, 8 March, the Latvian Patent Office (LPO) participated in “CITS BAZĀRS pavasarī” (OTHER BAZAAR in spring), an annual trade fair of Latvian student enterprises, organized by Junior Achievement Latvia (JA Latvia).
Throughout the day, both student enterprises and visitors of the Domina Shopping mall had the opportunity to attend the LPO’s stand and receive consultations regarding intellectual property protection. The LPO also presented awards to best student enterprises from primary and secondary schools in the category “Knowledge-based product or service”:
-
In the primary school group, the award went to SMU "Messaro" a team from Agenskalns State Gymnasium, which produce ergonomic chair risers. The students have developed two levels of risers for the correct sitting position. The riser is made of high-quality waterproof materials, which ensure its use both indoors and outdoors;
- In the secondary school group, the award went to SMU "Blum", a team from Madona State Gymnasium, who have developed a hydroponic garden. It can be controlled by an application connected to sensors that measure humidity, temperature, light and nutrients. This provides optimal conditions for healthy and efficient plant growth.
The jury’s representatives from the LPO were Ilze Grava, Director of the Development and International Cooperation Department, and Ieva Paula Drekslere, Director of the Trademarks and Industrial Designs Department.
At the event, anyone interested could view the stands of student enterprises and purchase their products and services. This year, “CITS BAZĀRS pavasarī” brought together the best 270 student enterprises from all over Latvia.
