From 3 to 5 December, the Patent Office participated in the furniture, interior, lighting, and design exhibition "Furniture & Design Isle 2021". In the frames of the exhibition, the Latvian Designers' Society organized the competition for schools and higher education institutions "Design Arena 2021", which has already become a tradition.
The Patent Office congratulated the winners of the competition in the category "Product Design":
- Lolita Luīze Rozīte, the 1st place winner in the higher education institutions’ group for the work “Dish Set for People with Essential Tremor” and teacher, the work’s supervisor, researcha ssistant Mg.sc.ing. Inga Zotova, - the Institute of Design Technologies of Riga Technical University.
- Nils Alencevičs, the winner of the 1st place in the schools’ group for the work “Collection of Raincoats for Men and Women “KITE HIDE”, and Normunds Vamzis, teacher, the work’s supervisor - Liepaja Music, Art, and Design Secondary School.
- Edvards Ķupis, the winner of the 2nd place in the schools’ group for the work “Game for Children with Blowing Exercises “Blowing and Rolling” and Ivars Pilips – Matisons, teacher, the work’s supervisor - Liepaja Music, Art, and Design Secondary School.
- Edgars Marius Bentas, the 3rd place winner in the schools’ group for the work “Seating “SIT-ON-STEP” and Ivars Pilips – Matisons, teacher, the work’s supervisor - Liepaja Music, Art, and Design Secondary School.
The Patent Office offered consultations to the visitors and participants of the exhibition on the protection of trademarks, designs and inventions, stressing the importance of registering industrial property rights, information searching in databases and preparing of an application for registration. The visitors and participants of the exhibition had the opportunity to learn about the e-services of the Patent Office, as well as about the European Union Intellectual Property Office’s project aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises by providing financial support for trademark and design registration and/or intellectual property pre-diagnostic services. In all, 117 participants took part in the exhibition, whereas the number of attendees was 4736.
