Salatz: it's not “salads”, it's Salaca
“Salatz” is the new, export-oriented trademark of the historic company “Brīvais vilnis”. Perhaps, the first association is with “salads”, however the name of the trademark is the name of Salacgrīva in the Middle Ages.
“Creating the trademark “Salatz”, we returned to the historical name of the medieval town of Salacgrīva in order to promote exports and reach new markets with a new design concept and brand,” says Arnolds Babris, the chairman of the board of “Brīvais vilnis”.
The fishermen’s collective farm “Brīvais vilnis” was founded in 1949. Later it was transformed into a joint-stock company. The design of the new trademark, created to increase exports, has a concept that differs from the company’ s previous designs.
