"Choosing the nominees is not an easy task, and this time the discussions among the jury were intense. The evaluated trademarks being expressive and strong, they were difficult to compare, considering the different industry sectors and their target audiences. We are rightly pleased with the word trademarks, which stand out for their conceptual capacity and wittiness, as well as with the original design of the figurative marks," notes a jury member Karina Kropa, Senior Expert at the LPO Trademarks and Industrial Designs Department.

The award process of the Trademark of the Year competition is organized in two stages. First, once a quarter, experienced LPO experts will select four trademarks in the Trademark of the Year – for Latvia nomination and four trademarks will be chosen in the Trademark of the Year – for the Europe Union nomination. The trademarks will further be forwarded for the second evaluation stage. The winners of the main award in both nominations will be determined among 16 trademarks registered at the LPO and 16 trademarks registered at the European Union Intellectual Property Office.

At the beginning of 2025, the trademarks will be assessed by the jury which will determine the winners of the main prize in both nominations: Trademark of the Year – for Latvia and Trademark of the Year – for the Europe Union. The jury will include experienced LPO experts and invited professionals from the partner organisations.

The Trademark of the Year award was founded in 2013. It aims to recognise Latvian entrepreneurs who realize the benefits of industrial property protection for the long-term competitiveness and efficiency of their companies and to promote the development of Latvian entrepreneurship.
