Last week, on December 2, the Latvian Patent Office (LPO) participated in “CITS BAZĀRS ziemā” (OTHER BAZAAR in winter), an annual trade event of Latvian student enterprises (SMUs) organized by Junior Achievement Latvia (JA Latvia).
Throughout the day, both SMUs and attendees of the event had the opportunity to get advice on issues of intellectual property protection at the LPO’s stand, while the LPO awarded the best primary and secondary school SMUs in the nomination "Knowledge-based product/service", which were:
-
In the primary school group - Hushroom from Jelgava Secondary School No. 4 for mycelium acoustic panels;
-
In the secondary school group - HeatSaver from Jelgava Spidola State Gymnasium for a reusable hand warmer.
The LPO’s director Agris Batalauskis participated in the work of the jury and presented awards to the winners in the nomination "Knowledge-based product/service". He notes that the imagination of young people, their knowledge and desire to invent something innovative are amazing. I believe that many of them will not stop at what they have achieved and will continue to turn their ideas into unique things, as well as take care of the protection of their creative works. This annual trade fair of SMUs is an excellent opportunity to be evaluated not only by the jury, but also by the visitors of the event.
During the event, the team of experienced experts determined and awarded the winners in the following 10 nominations:
- Socially responsible SMU
- Technologically innovative product/service
- Best sales team
- Knowledge-based product/service
- Social media communication award
- Product/service ready for international business
- Sustainable product/service
- Business potential
- Best stand
- Best product brand
As usual, the event was held in Domina Shopping mall, where the event's attendees could view the SMUs’ stands and purchase the goods and services offered by the young people. This year, "CITS BAZĀRS ziemā"(OTHER BAZAAR in winter) brought together 270 SMUs from all over Latvia. The goods and services offered by the SMUs can be viewed in the JA Latvia e-catalogue.
