On Monday, 10 March, representatives of the Latvian Patent Office (LPO) had a meeting with a delegation from the European Patent Office (EPO) to discuss current issues related to the implementation of IT projects.
At the meeting, the EPO delegation presented the current IT developments, including the Digital Tool Kit for examining patent applications and the improved Front Office for submitting patent applications, that the EPO is planning to pilot and implement in cooperation with member states. The Digital Toolkit is a new solution that the EPO proposes to implement to ensure a high-quality and efficient patent application examination process in member states, as well as to provide the simplest and most secure data transfer to the EPO.
The EPO and LPO representatives agreed to continue an active dialogue to strengthen cooperation in the field of IT. Both sides expressed their commitment to collaborating on the new IT projects, ensuring regular information exchange.
The EPO was represented at the meeting by Mr. Mark Thunder and Mr. Houssam Haitof from IT Cooperation Support.
The LPO was represented at the meeting by Director Agris Batalauskis, Deputy Director/ Director of the Administrative and Finance Department Ēriks Rēķis, Director of the Patent Department Līga Lārmane, Head of the Technical Support Division Arnis Dmitruks, and Project Manager of the Development and International Cooperation Department Māra Vilciņa.
