In preparation for the DesignEuropa Awards ceremony, organized by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), which will take place on September 25 in Riga, Latvia, the Patent Office of the Republic of Latvia is introducing the awards finalists. One of the finalists in the Industry award category is the Beolab 8 modular speaker.
The speaker is offered by the globally renowned audio technology company Bang & Olufsen, with its design created by the NOTO design team. The Beolab 8 is an elegantly designed speaker made of aluminium, delivering high-precision sound output and exceptional versatility in placement. Its modular design offers endless possibilities in terms of colour, materials, and surface finishes, allowing for easy adaptability to future technologies, making it a sustainable product, while encouraging consumer involvement in its improvement.
The speaker is compact, capable of delivering both surround and stereo sound. It adapts to the room and ensures a high-quality audio experience through advanced acoustic, material, and stand features. The speakers can be connected to a TV, including older models, without compromising sound quality.
Creating the Beolab 8, the NOTO design team focused on combining artistic design with practical functionality, ensuring that the product serves as a central element of modern technology and style.
The Danish company Bang & Olufsen, founded by Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen, entered the audio world in 1925, gaining attention with its iconic, high-quality technologies designed to deliver the best possible music listening experience.
Meanwhile, the NOTO design team positions itself as industrial design enthusiasts with over 20 years of experience in developing a wide range of products. The design team boasts several industry awards to date.
The DesignEuropa Awards aim to highlight design works in the industrial sector, with prizes awarded in the following categories:

This year’s six finalists in the Entrepreneurs and Small Companies and Industry categories represent various European countries (Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Romania, and Sweden), covering a wide range of industries, including healthcare, audio devices, household appliances, energy storage, housing, and architecture. Designs entered into the competition come from well-known brands like Bang & Olufsen, Linet, and Meze Audio, as well as newcomers like Arsenit, MyGrid, and Transparent. All products emphasize sustainability, setting new standards in the design industry.
