On 27 September, the Latvian Patent Office (LPO) participated in the activities of European Researchers’ Night organized by Daugavpils University.
Throughout the event, young people actively participated in various educational and interactive activities. The LPO representatives not only provided theoretical information, but also got the participants involved in various practical tasks to make them better understand real-life situations and the risks of using counterfeit goods.
The activities of European Researchers’ Night at Daugavpils University were widely attended, providing an excellent opportunity for the LPO to promote awareness of intellectual property protection and the habit of buying of authentic goods among a considerable number of attendees. The youngest children were particularly interested in the game process itself, while their parents could learn about how to distinguish original goods from fakes, why you should not buy counterfeits and what risks you could face in other case.
Daugavpils is the 13th city that has been involved in the activities of the European Authenticities project. Two cities from Latvia have joined the Network of Authenticities, i.e. Liepāja and Daugavpils, and, currently, they are the only ones from the Baltic region.
The European Network of Authenticities project is financially supported by the European Union Intellectual Property Office. The LPO, Daugavpils City Municipality and Daugavpils University cooperate in its implementation within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding.
